The Existential Soul of Tim Maia (Nobody Can Live Forever)

Earlier this year, LukaBop released a retrospective album focusing on the work of Tim Maia.

The only reason I know this is thanks to the  ‘Do You’ breakfast show on NTS Radio (fronted by the one and only Charlie Bones). Incidentally if this sentence means nothing to you, investigate – now! After a push in the right direction it became apparent that the track was ‘Do Leme Ao Pontal’ and the man singing it was a Brazilian, Tim Maia.

To cut a long story short, ‘The Existential Soul of Tim Maia’ is the first worldwide release of his material. Released by LukaBop, it is an amazing collection of funk/soul records with some incredible ‘singles’ embedded in what is an essential compilation.

There is a lot of information to take on board, in particular an introductory video narrated by Devandra Banhart, as well as a video feed which includes live gigs, interviews, and some amazing stories about his trials and tribulations.
