Ghanaian legend (and firm Tumbleweave favourite) Gyedu-Blay Ambolley originally released the seminal ‘Simigwa’ LP back in 1975. Over 25 years later (and after a 2 year wait since the initial announcement) the album is again available to order. Having been re-mastered from the original tapes, the announcement was made via the Voodoo Funk site last month.
”Suffused with his larger-than-life personality, this LP is an absolutely irresistible manifesto of his heavy Afro-Funk Simigwa philosophy. This record spawned a genuine dance craze in Ghana and is even considered a foundation record of the Hip Life style of Hip Hop that is popular in Ghana today.”
