Fimber Bravo – Dimbaya

Fimber Bravo’s ‘Con-Fusion‘ is a highly anticipated LP around these parts ever since ‘Life After Doomsday‘ blew all competition away towards the end of last year. In celebration of its low key release last week, ‘Dimbaya’ is also out as a second single, and you can check it out below.

A surreal combination involving both steel and talking drums, a horn section, layered male vocals and some synths result in a pleasant, plodding track that employs a rather meandering arrangement. The resulting feel is one of relentless positivity, taking inspiration from 80’s highlife productions in a similar vein to some long forgotten Hugh Masekela material.

Playing on this particular track with the Trinidadian ‘frontman’ are Brazilian Adriano Adewale (percussion), South African jazz player Claude Depper (trumpet) and London based Japanese producer Zongamin (this time on bass). If that isn’t enough to tempt you, you are in the wrong place.

There are also live dates to look forward to in the coming weeks if you weren’t lucky enough to catch him last time round. And if you are even slightly tempted, take the plunge. You are in for a real treat…
