Every so often I remember how long its been since I checked the seemingly never ending archives of the RBMA site, and sit down to trawl through what I might have missed. Guaranteed to provide a multitude of mixes and articles to excite, there is always something worth shouting about.
This time however, the ‘discovery’ is one particularly close to my heart. One of the first excursions I made into the world of reggae was via Augustus Pablo, and as a result was instantly diverted to the man King Tubby. Whilst the legend of his productions and back catalogue may not be news to many, it has been a real pleasure being reminded of his finest moments via the selection put together by Kirk Degiorgio.
A handful of the tunes in the 36 track running order jumped straight up and reminded me that there will always be a space for real dub in my heart. If these productions are somehow foreign to you, I urge you to jump into the deep end. And if (like me) you are even slightly familiar with the man and his work, go on an give yourself a little reminder as to why. After all, summer is on it’s way.
