This post is just a quick heads up with regards to some very special gigs at the Barbican this week. On the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of November Amadou & Mariam are hosting a series of 3 nights entitled ‘Eclipse’. For those who may not be familiar with the duo, Amadou Bagayoko and Mariam Doumbia are a blind couple from Mali who perform and write together.
The gigs will be held in pitch black venues, and on top of the performance itself the night will be narrated by Malian storyteller Hamadoun Tandina. As well as this a combination of atmospheric sounds from Bamako and a collection of scents specifically created for the occasion will be introduced to add to the occasion.
Unfortunately tickets (originally available here) are now sold out, however as always it is probably going to be sensible to keep your eye out for returns, or even turn up without a ticket and hope for the best. Alternatively there are some dates already planned which take place in Paris at the start of next year, depending on where you may be reading this from.
